FAQ
QuadroStar - Vascular treatment and ENT
· Which applications are possible with this laser?
With QuadroStar you have maximum versatility of laser applications thanks to the possibility of combining up to two wavelengths in the same device: together with 532 nm you can choose between one of the following diodes (810, 940, 980) depending on whether you wish to associate superficial vascular treatments (532, 940), teeth whitening, surgery on the soft tissues (810) or ENT treatments (940).
· When should two different wavelengths be selected?
When you are able to carry out a variety of different operations (superficial vascular and endovascular treatments, for example) or when you are thinking of using the laser device together with a colleague specialized in another discipline (e.g., a dermatologist or ENT, cosmetician or vascular surgeon, etc.)
· How does the treatment of capillaries and facial telangiectasias work?
This wavelength is ideal for treating facial telangiectasias, capillaries of the legs and all those skin problems linked to red colored vascular problems (angiomas, etc.) as it is specifically absorbed by the hemoglobin contained in the small blood vessels. The laser coagulates these vessels, causing them to diminish or even disappear immediately.
· How many sessions are necessary and what intervals should be observed?
Depending on the case in question, one or two sessions may be necessary:
1) In the case of leg capillaries a cycle of 3 sessions is usually necessary
2) In the case of a large angioma the cycle consists of more than 3 sessions.
The interval between the first session and second session should be 4 weeks to allow time for any small scabs that could have formed due to the coagulating effect of the laser to drop off. For this purpose it is recommended to make a visual inspection of the skin before carrying out the following session.
· What are the advantages compared to other methods?
An alternative method to this type of laser intervention could be microschlerotherapy however in actual fact it is not as efficacious on small blood vessels due to being based on injections of a pharmacological substance into the veins which have diameters that are too small to be treated efficaciously. Additional advantages of laser compared to schlerotherapy are its non-invasiveness and minor or complete lack of side effects (there is no formation of emboli or scars).
· How should I propose laser to the patient?
As a treatment that is non-invasive (there are no sub-cutaneous injections), pain-free (thanks to the skin cooling system that can be used on the device), and very efficacious (only a few sessions are necessary). The sensation felt by the patient is just a slight tingling during the laser light emission. Nevertheless, for more sensitive patients it is always advisable to use an anesthetic cream (such as EMLA).
· Which accessories can facilitate the treatment?
As already mentioned, a scanner and a skin cooling device are also available with the QuadroStar+. The scanner is recommended above all for the treatment of extensive vascular lesions and/or large hyperchromies. The cooling of the skin is an additional comfort we provide the patient with however it is not essential for the positive results of the session in terms of effectiveness.
· ENT - which operations are possible?
With the wavelengths of 810 and 940 various ENT operations are possible, including all those involving the nose (excision of polyps, hyperplasia of the turbinates, chronic sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, cysts, etc.), the throat (uvuloplastic), and mouth (hemangiomas and papillomas). All the treatments are carried out without any bleeding, in a precise manner with rapid re-epithelization and minimum recovery times.
